Exposing your sources...

Concerning the Washington Post's article at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/30/AR2005063000205_pf.html entitled "Time Magazine to Hand Over Reporter Notes", I have some observations:
Time Magazine statement says it believes "the Supreme Court has limited press freedom in ways that will have a chilling effect on our work and that may damage the free flow of information that is so necessary in a democratic society."
I say that the reporters involved have limited the CIA's freedom in ways that will have a chilling effect on THEIR work and that may damage the free flow of INTELLIGENCE that is so necessary in a democratic society.
Not to mention the fact that the agent's life has been placed in grave danger!
I believe in the sanctity of the freedom of the press...however...not at the expense of the HIGHER PRINCIPLE, the life and security of another American, especially one who is a public servant. Another higher principle is national security. Leaking sensitive intelligence such as this to the world is setting a precedent for things our country does not need to experience.
The article also says that "Robert Bennett, representing Miller, told the judge in asking for more time that 'it's a big step to put two people in jail who have committed no crimes.'"
Compromising American agents IS criminal and treasonous, Mr. Bennett. So is contempt of court.
